I think we all really enjoyed Jhumpa Lahiri's story "A Temporary Affair". The New Yorker has an excellent short story fiction podcast you can access directly via the link below or through iTunes. In the episode "Open Secrets" she reads a William Trevor story and discusses his style's similarity to hers. This story is very similar to "Affair" and is very interesting to hear her talk about Trevor's influence on her. Oh, I am a big William Trevor fan and not just because he is Irish! ;-) However, I do think she has an even more delicate and elegant style than even Trevor at times as "Affair" showed in class.
